Understanding admission cycles

Different universities open admissions at different points in the year. Knowing the intakes helps you plan documents, tests and visa timing.

Fall semester

June / July intake

The primary admission cycle with the widest choice of programmes, the most scholarships and the largest financial aid pool. Best for undergraduate and graduate applicants.

Spring semester

December / January intake

A second window offered by many universities. Fewer seats, but a good option for a flexible start date or for research-led MPhil and PhD programmes.

  • English proficiency (IELTS / TOEFL, if required)
  • Statement of purpose or motivation letter
  • Two to three recommendation letters
  • Research proposal (MPhil / PhD applicants)

Assessment & entry tests

Universities assess candidates holistically. Depending on the programme you may face one or more of the following:

Note for international applicants

Some universities require an HEC equivalency certificate, documents attested by your foreign ministry, or specific English proficiency scores. We verify this per university before you submit.

Pakistan study visa

A complete checklist for international students. Make sure every document is attested and ready before submission — we check the full set with you first.

Mandatory documents

  • Recent passport-size photograph with a white background
  • Passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages
  • Admission or bonafide letter from a recognised Pakistani university
  • NOC from HEC, Economic Affairs Division, IPC, Health or Education Ministry as applicable
  • Entry visa: NOC from the concerned government department in Pakistan
  • Extension: NOC from your country’s embassy in Pakistan
  • Sponsorship or bank statement if family will accompany you
  • Proof of legal residence if applying from a third country

Duration & validity

2 years

The initial study visa is granted for two years. Extension is possible while residing in Pakistan on a valid visa.

3 months

Standard processing period. Apply well in advance of your intake to avoid delays.

Valid visa + entry stamp

You must hold a valid Pakistani visa and be physically present in Pakistan, with an NOC from your embassy.
